New Camera

Sun May 14, 2006, 10:13 AM
Hi,

I am kind of new to photography. Only had some experience with a Minolta Dynax 505si, which is a very nice film camera (had a 28-80mm and a 75-300mm lenses on it) and with a Canon Powershot S300 (a fine 2.1 megapixel digital camera).

The Minolta was a very nice camera, but with film being a little expensive and the camera belonging to an ex-girlfriend I didn't take many pictures.

The Canon PS S300 is a little but very capable digital camera. With only 2.1 megapixels is not very useful these days though. But is takes very sharp pictures.

I've just bought the new Canon Powershot S3 IS. It seems to be a very nice camera. Nice handling and good build quality. I've taken just a few shots to try out all the features the camera has and to be honest I'm starting to like this camera a lot. I love the 12x optical zoom and the Super Macro (0cm focus) is awesome. The image stabilization really works very well, but I need to buy a good tripod so I can start taking some pro-like pictures. This camera has lots of features including, 60fps video with 44hz stereo sound, vari-angle lcd screen, 12x optical zoom with image stabilization, wide screen picture mode, EVF viewfinder (low res viewfinder but still very usefull), just to list a few. You can get the full specifications from the Canon website or searching the web for reviews. If you are a little lazy you can get the specifications here: [link] a very good preview here: [link] and finally a full review of the camera here: [link]

I'll start posting some pictures in a couple of days.

Enjoy all the pictures through deviantART.

Thanks for your nice comment on 'Sleepy Albino Kangaroo.' It is nice to know that there are fat and happy albino kangaroos around since their life expectance in the wild is dramaticly short.

Thanks for your great comment on 'And Another Eastern Blue.' Actually, I tried burning the leaf a little, but it just didn't look right with the bright light glaring off of the back of the butterfly. But thanks for the suggestion; constructive crits are always appreciated.
